Our greatest strength is the quality of our staff

BCI enjoys an average combined field and management employee retention rate of nine years. Together, the BCI staff works hard to provide a competitively priced product with professional project coordination which is uncommon in the construction industry. The following individuals provide the management for our projects:

Office and Upper Management Staff

John C. Buestad
President

John's role is to ensure that the project is constructed in a professional and timely manner and in the best interest of the owner and of the project. He personally supervises all projects.

Ken Carvalho
Chief Estimator

Ken is a licensed general contractor in California who graduated from the San Jose State University Graduate Program with a degree in Industrial Arts and has a teaching credential in Industrial Education. He has worked at Buestad Construction, Inc. for over thirty years and is the 4th generation of his family to be in the building business. Ken handles all design coordination, estimating, and pre-construction administration. He is also available throughout the project for consultation and/or problem resolution.

Janet Van Klompenburg
Office Manager

Janet coordinates office administration, job tracking, subcontractor insurance, vendor records, and assists with accounting functions. Her experience, training and professionalism ensure that Buestad Construction operates smoothly and efficiently.

Brian Steiner
Senior Project Manager

Brian began his profession as a construction superintendent with Buestad Construction in 1989. His wealth of knowledge in all aspects of interior and exterior construction, in addition to his experience in business management and project planning, makes him a valuable member of the company. Over the years, Brian has naturally progressed from foreman to project manager, and conducts each project using his versatile skills. He successfully operated his own general contracting business for 8 years prior to coming to Buestad Construction, Inc.

Mike Dube
Project Manager

Mike has been in the construction industry since 1985, first working for the family business in Maine for a number of years building small residential and commercial projects, and then working in Japan for 8 years building “American Style” homes. Mike brings valuable field experience to enable projects to run smoothly and on schedule.

Chris Ward
Project Manager

While in college, Chris worked at a small hardware store, learning about construction tools and materials, and developing strong customer service skills. He earned his bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering from San Francisco State University. Soon realizing that soil was not his passion, he needed to try something different. He spent 8 years as an estimator/manager for a marble and granite fabrication shop, working on high-end residential and small commercial projects in the Bay Area.

On-Site Management

Our on-site Superintendents bring the benefit of years of "hands on" experience to our projects. They are responsible for smooth and efficient on-site job management, and supervision of both Buestad Construction employees and subcontractors. The Superintendents assure that quality work is being performed and that the project schedule is maintained. They are also responsible for the enforcement of all pertinent OSHA regulations.

Field Staff

Our experienced field staff consists of laborers, apprentice carpenters, journeyman carpenters, and lead carpenters.
