History

Buestad Construction, Inc. is a family-owned, non-union, general contracting firm maintaining a class B contractor's license.  Based in Alameda, Buestad Construction was founded in 1948 by the late John H. Sales and Goals

For over sixty years, Buestad Construction has strived to provide quality comprehensive construction services in the following areas:  residential, commercial, industrial, and maritime.  Our annual company sales volume averages $7.5 million, forty-five percent of which is work performed for repeat clients and referrals. The company goal is to increase our sales volume by maintaining our current client base through quality, cost-effective projects, and by actively pursuing new client/architect relationships, through referrals and marketing.

Services

Buestad Construction's strong emphasis on communication throughout the design and build processes is its most vital asset.  As is shown in the following stages, the client and architect are consulted with on a regular basis in order to thwart any delays in schedules and avoid unnecessary costs.

Designing Stage:

Buestad Construction's strong emphasis on communication throughout the design and build processes is its most vital asset.  As is shown in the following stages, the client and architect are consulted with on a regular basis in order to thwart any delays in schedules and avoid unnecessary costs.

Negotiating Stage:

At this time, our Chief Estimator will approximate the cost of the project from design development sketches, if requested, or from the working drawings. He will research and document cost saving measures on construction techniques and materials providing options and alternatives to the owner and architect.  During this time the estimator continuously strives to accommodate the owner's budgetary constraints while maintaining project design integrity.

Pre-Construction Stage:

The Estimator will prepare detailed materials lists and scope of work to be bid on by prospective suppliers and subcontractors. He will also generate a complete computerized cost breakdown detailing the derivation of the Contract Sum. At this stage, many potential construction problems will be marked for special attention and/or resolved.

Construction Stage:

At this stage, your project will be handled by one of our Project Managers who will prepare a schedule to govern the project and closely monitor the schedule, budget, and quality of construction being performed by Buestad Construction's employees and subcontractors. Subcontract and Purchase Order agreements will be prepared and enforced throughout construction. The Project Manager will coordinate with all governmental agencies and public utilities. Working with the Superintendents, Architects, and Owners, he will see that the architectural intent of the project and its timely and on-budget completion are both achieved.

Pricing

We are very competitive in negotiated or bid contracts performing the work on a fixed bid or on a cost plus a fee basis. We are bondable to an estimated $4,000,000.00 work program.
